New York Holidays Are Special For The Entire Family
There truly is no better place than New York for the holidays. The city that never sleeps has something for every member of your family. The hustle and the bustle of the crowds thrum with a life and vibrancy that can only be found in New York. From the bright lights of Time Square to the glitz and glamor of Broadway to the serenity of Central Park, New York is truly an amazing place during the holidays.
There is nothing more iconic of New York holidays than strapping on a pair of skates and ice skating at the famous Rockefeller Center. You can glide along the ice beneath the bright city lights beneath the towering skyscrapers as you enjoy the crisp winter air. While at the Rockefeller Center, you can also go and see their towering decorated tree. Containing approximately 5 miles of lights, the tree is a sight worth seeing, and a sight that is hard to miss! You can also cross the street and enjoy the high-kicking Rockettes in the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. You can also enjoy the magical Nutcracker ballet at the nearby Lincoln Center.
Shopping in New York during the holiday is a wonderful experience for everyone. The legendary department stores of Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Sak’s, and Lord & Taylor offer more than just a wide assortment of merchandise. Before exploring their many floors filled with fine clothing, take the time to enjoy the magical whimsy of their elaborate holiday window displays. The animated displays change from year to year, but whatever the theme, they are certain to amaze both young and old. For the child in all of us there is also the famous F.A.O. Schwarz toy store with its amazing toys from around the world.
While in New York you shouldn’t miss its world class museums. While most of the displays are up for the entire year, there are holiday specific exhibits, including the Christmas tree at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the origami christmas trees at the American Museum of Natural History.
There is nothing more romantic than a holiday carriage ride through Central Park. You will be transported back in time as you cuddle next to your loved one while your horse-drawn carriage takes you through along the fabled park. When your ride is over enjoy a hot chocolate or roasted chestnuts to warm up. The holidays are truly a magical time in New York.
